By default, the Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT) shows “IT Organization” while it is running tasks.  The good news is that this setting can be customized.

Open your CustomSettings.ini file.  It should be located in .\DeploymentShare\Control\CustomSettings.ini.  Here’s a copy of a brand new CustomSettings.ini from my lab that hasn’t been customized yet.  This should give you an idea of what it should look like before you customize it.

In the [Default] section, you’ll want to add:

When you’re done, your CustomSettings.ini should look something like this:

And here’s a screenshot:

Save your changes and you’re done!  The CustomSettings.ini is pulled from your deployment share, so you won’t need to re-generate your boot ISO/WIM files.

When you run your next deployment, you’ll see your custom Company/Department name.

  1. Good tip Kyle! We use that setting to remind users not to restart the computer. I am amazed at how many people will do that.
